Personality:
Lapis is an odd gem, as her personality is dependent on various factors. As the various traumas she's been through in her life (ie: being trapped in a mirror for thousands of years, being Malachite, etc, etc.) has made her somewhat wary of anyone who comes at her in a hostile manner. But it has also made her stronger, as she is able to resist a mental attack that rendered every other gem unable to move while all she did was shed a tear and state she's "felt worse". Also, being not in control, it had made her wary of conflict as well. As her first idea to do when even the mere idea of being caught in another war is to run away. Taking the whole barn that she and Peridot had been living in with her, not even considering how that would affect the other Gem.
Thankfully, with time and good friends, Lapis has been able to let her true self out. Her humor is deadpan and her attitude is blase, even lazy, towards various things. Like a pack of Rubies showing back up or Steven's uncle trying to kick her and Peridot out of their home. That and her preferred activities are to either lounge about, either reading a book or watching TV instead of getting involved in shenanigans. Although she can still be a bit too self-focused, caring more about her feelings and such and how they trump everyone else's. That is shown in her interactions with Peridot before she fled with the barn, as we find out that Peridot avoided saying certain things in an attempt to keep Lapis from becoming depressed. While Lapis did not show any of the same consideration to Peridot.
Also aside from her selfishness, Lapis is also a character who has been taken advantage of many times in the past. This is something about herself that she has show some hate towards, and in the one time where she had complete control over another being (Jasper in this case) she ended up hating the type of person she became in that situation. As she had taken all of her anger and hatred at the situation out on Jasper. But the fact that Lapis is aware that was a horrible relationship to be in means that she can learn from those types of things.
This doesn't mean she may not backslide into bad habits though, as being in a strange new world by herself is not the best situation to be in. By bad habits I mean, she'd be much more self-focused and prone to angry outbursts at people not doing things her way. While she may actually consider others' feelings, something she didn't do before becoming a Crystal Gem, it's highly probable she'll still put her own emotions first. But that's only a possibility for how she'd react to the situation of being in Ryslig.
As Lapis may also not go that way, because even though in the past she expressed disappointment in how she wasn't quickly adapting to Earth life? Lapis is actually one of the few Gems that has adapted the fastest to living on Earth, as she's picked up/is aware of various slang and is the one to notice when two Gems are flirting with each other.
On the better side, Lapis is someone who will do whatever she can for a friend. As she formed Malachite with Jasper only to keep the other Gem away from Steven, who at the time was the only person on Earth Lapis cared about. Now would she do such a thing for any of the people she's come to care about now? Who knows, but hey she did go against her one huge fear (The Diamonds) so the answer leans closer to "yes" than "no" now.
By the canon point that I am taking her from though, Lapis is much less wary of people and is more willing to take part in daring adventures. As she joins Bismuth and Peridot in going to Homeworld and helping Steven and the Crystal Gems escape and stop White Diamond. Joining in the fight without hesitation, acting as a distraction while Steven et all went into the belly of the beast. Heck, afterwards, once they all have returned back to Earth? Lapis helps take corrupted gems to the healing pool and she even joins the group in celebrating by relaxing on the beach something she may have avoided beforehand due to her more self-focused mindset.
